Raymond Jefferson Shively

Raymond Jefferson Shively, age 85 of Joplin, Mo, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Raymond was born on March 7, 1937, to the late Jacob Amos Shively and Ethel Hester Lamb in Joplin. He was raised in “New Addition” in north Joplin. He was married to Phyllis O’Brien from July 4, 1980, to March 17, 2002. He was a loving Husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and dearly loved his Heavenly Father. He believed strongly in the power of prayer and church. He is survived by many extended family and friends, and he was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Amos, and sisters Mary Ellen and Martha Jane.

For many years, he lived independently after suffering a stroke, and much help was given from Missouri Division of Aging Senior Services, Independent Living Center, Dr. Henry Petry, Joplin Housing, Joplin Fire Dept, his cousin, and his niece. Fortunately, he received endless help and love from Gene, who went above and beyond for anything Raymond needed. Gene was truly Raymond’s very best friend. Also, very special help was received from Angie and Linda, and they loved him like family. Both were like angels from heaven, whom he loved so much for their true friendship, sweet kindness, and excellent care. Services are Tuesday, March 15, at Ozark Memorial Park Mausoleum at 11am. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to Independent Living Center.

Thank You To Everyone Who Cared.
