Sherry Ann Smith passed away at the hospital on March 28th, 2022 in Joplin, MO at the age of 70. Sherry was born October 11th, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to Richard McCarty Sr. and Bertie George. Sherry is survived by her son Anthony Warmoth of Carl Junction, MO and her husband Leigh Smith of Joplin, MO. Two sisters; Regina (McCarty) Beerly and Don of Neosho, MO. Tina (McCarty) Lightle and David of Springfield, MO. She was grandmother to Ethan and Owen Warmoth. Sherry is preceded in death by both parents, her son Darren Warmoth, and her brothers Richard McCarty Jr. of Webb City, MO and Curtis McCarty of Carthage, MO.
Sherry grew up in the St. Louis, MO area. Later, she moved to the Joplin area where the rest of her family lived. For several years she raised Darren and Tony. Later in life, Sherry met her husband Leigh and they were married. Sherry and her family moved to the Oklahoma City area in 1983. In 2002, after more than 30 years, Sherry and family moved back to Joplin. One of her favorite things in life was playing and cuddling with her doggie. Sherry was such a wonderful and sweet person who will be missed greatly.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 1, 2022 at Carterville Cemetery in Carterville, MO. Pastor Kenneth Miner will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, MO.
