January 13, 1935 – September 6, 2024

Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
On September 6, 2024, Carl Edward Sheets passed from this life to the next. Carl was born on January 13, 1935, in Avilla, Missouri to his loving parents, Paul and Alpha Sheets, who instilled wonderful values and qualities that were seen by all who knew him.

Carl graduated from Webb City High School in 1953 and soon thereafter married his wife of 55 years, Jean Anne. Carl and Jean Anne had two children, Cindy and Scott. They resided in Webb City until moving to Yukon, OK where they lived for over 30 years until Jean Anne passed away in 2009. Carl’s professional career as a truck driver began at the age of 17 working for his family’s trucking company, Paul Sheets Trucking, servicing the Joplin Stock Yards and ended in 1997 when he retired from Yellow Freight Corp located in Oklahoma City, OK after 45 years in the trucking industry. If you knew Carl, you knew that he loved sitting behind the wheel of a truck going down the highway!

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Alpha Sheets, his wife, Jean Anne Sheets, his daughter, Cindy Turner, grandson, Cody Sheets and his brother, Don Sheets. What a reunion they are having in Heaven! He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Debbie Sheets; his granddaughters, Amber Turner and Shelby Rosson and husband Brooks; sister-in-law, Nancy Sheets; and nephews, Gary Sheets and wife Charlene, David Sheets and Eric Sheets and wife Stacey. As well as his best friend and loving companion of 14 years, Carol McVey. Carol’s undaunting love and care for Carl was a source of joy and happiness for Carl during his last years. Of this his family is very appreciative.

A graveside memorial service to honor Carl’s memory will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery, Webb City, MO.

Carl Edward Sheets will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
