Jack Lee Washburn age 93 Asbury, MO. Passed away Friday, August 30, 2024 at his son’s home with family by his side.
Jack was born October 18, 1930, the son of the late, Tom and Flossie Washburn. Jack grew up in the Asbury, MO. area and lived there his entire life. Jack proudly served in the US Army during the Korean war. After his time in the Army, he joined the Missouri National Guard where he served until retirement of 21 years.
He worked for Dan Stanley Ford/Gus Shaffer Ford as a salesman and then Sales Manager for approx. 30 years, He also worked at Roper Pontiac as sales manager before retiring. He was also a Farmer and Rancher.
Jack was one of the founding members and Colonel of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Posse, and a Colonel of the Missouri Governors Mounted Guard.
Jack married June Byler in 1949, they had 4 children, John, Patti, David and Sue. He married JoAnn Journot Dec 1997. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife June, his parents, Tom and Flossie Washburn, his sister, Fern Monroe, Son, John Washburn, Stepsons, Terrence McWhirt and Michael McWhirt, and granddaughter, Lori Vanderpool.
Jack is survived by his wife JoAnn, daughters, Patti Colvin Locust Grove, Ok, Sue Emmert Asbury, Mo, son, David Washburn Saddlebrooke MO, a stepson, Patrick McWhirt Springfield, Mo, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His wishes were no funeral service. There will be a private family military honors for him.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made at a local animal shelter in his name. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.

Such a nice man, have known him a long time , always enjoyed him coming into the cafe in Asbury, condolences to his family I know he will be missed
Jack sold me The Best car I Ever Owned!!!! Knew him & his sons well. Best family! Jack was such an honest, sincere, caring man. He will be miss by so many. Many of us have great memories of him. Condolences to and prayers to his family & friends
