
Jackie Gene (Jack) Hill, of Nixa, MO, passed away February 27, 2025 at the age of 90 years. Jack was born 08 September, 1934 at his paternal grandfathers’ farm in NE Lawrence County, AR to John Isaac and Vesta Christine (Holland) Hill. He married Alethea Jean Nunnally, 05 August 1955; and Linda Kay (Warden) Owen, 27 Dec 1987.
He attended schools at Ravenden and Imboden, AR and began his railroad career with the St. Louis San Francisco “Frisco” Railroad as a Telegraph Operator at Sedgwick, AR in 1951. Over the next forty years he worked many jobs throughout the system, including positions at Springfield, MO, Billings, MT, and Overland Park, KS prior to retiring from the BNRR 31 July 1991. After retirement, Jack spent 20 years as a volunteer Librarian for the Ozark’s Genealogical Society in Springfield. He greatly enjoyed dancing and was a sports enthusiast, participating in riding horses, boating (skiing), quail hunting, and was an avid runner for 33 years.
Jack was a member of Northwest Baptist Church (Springfield) and, together with his daughter Kim, was baptized 21 Nov 1966.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Phillip, brother, Bud Hill, nephews, Donald Wayne Hill, Johnny Hill, and Ward Crabtree; brothers-in-law, James Clayton, Dwight and Paul Nunnally; sisters-in-law, Martha Lou Anderson and Julie Wolfe.
Jack is survived by son, Jeffrey Hill, daughter, Kimberly (Howard) DeCelis, sisters, Roline (Bud) Crabtree and Joyce Clayton, granddaughter, Emily (Cody) Leanhart, brother-in-law, Sam (Dotty) Nunnally, sisters-in-law, Millie Hill and Sarah (Dan) Goosen, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, MO.

My prayers are with all the family for peace and comfort, we will all miss him so much, he was like a brother to me.
Uncle Jack was always nice to me and to be around. He helped anyone that needed it. He will be missed. He was a good man! I am thinking of you all..(his family)
Jack was a great brother-n-law. We had a lot of good adventures and worked on the Railroad together. Jack was like a Brother and he will be missed.
