Jackie “Jack” Dean Gurnee

Jackie (“Jack”) Dean Gurnee passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jack was born on March 14, 1941 in Springfield, Missouri and lived a life defined by hard work and generosity. A skilled welder, Jack always provided for his family, often traveling great distances and working long hours. His work ethic and determination were a testament to the love he had for his family and will be remembered by all.

Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Jean (Wood) Gurnee; his children, Shelly Kay Keener (husband Jeff), Jackie (“Jake”) Dean Gurnee Jr. (wife Cheryl), Bartricia (Trish) Lynn Kresyman-Shuler (husband Roger), and Johnnie (“John”) Earl Gurnee (wife Monica); 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Jack also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will hold him in their hearts. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, his son, Shane Allen Gurnee, his daughter-in-law, Cathy Lynn (Coble) Gurnee (wife of Shane), his son-in-law, Raymond Lawrence Kresyman Jr., (husband of Trish) and other cherished family members. Jack was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

Family will hold a memorial in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, an organization whose mission touched Jack’s heart and reflects his spirit of compassion.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematorium of Joplin.

    Heartfelt condolences to all during this difficult time I didn’t get to meet Shelly’s father but she talked lovingly about her Dad and Mother and knowing Shelly’s loving and kind spirit she must have had wonderful parents and family Much love and prayers to Shelly and all to pass on their legacy and memories
