James Raymond Walsh

James Raymond Walsh Sr. 79, of Baxter Springs, KS. Passed away from this life on April 6, 2025, at the Solace House of the Ozarks in Joplin, MO. He was born Dec 10, 1945, in Greenbush Kansas. James was known by many nicknames, Jim, Lighting, and Papa.

James was the son of Lawrence E and Winnifred N (Conner) Walsh. He entered the US Navy on September23, 1963 serving in Vietnam before receiving his honorable discharge on September 22, 1969. He then worked for Farmland industry for 15years, before opening his own feed store, “Walsh’s Feed Store” in Quapaw, OK for 7 years. James opened a recycling business and worked there until retirement.
James married Frona (Underhill) on April 27, 1968. Survivors include wife Frona, Two sons- Jamie Walsh, and Travis Walsh. One daughter Teresa Robison (Phillip). Three grandchildren Kylee Sommer (Kyle), Caleb Robison (Megan), and Karissa Walsh. Five great- grandchildren, Kysen, Kynlee, Kasyn, Kwyncee, and Kreedyn. Brother Keith Walsh, two sisters- Charolette Winterbower and Vickie Billey (Ed), sister-in-law- Diana Walsh and two brother in laws- Mike Underhill and Jim Norris. James had many nieces and nephews that he loved and thought of as his own. James was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Ed Walsh and Roger Walsh, and a sister Charlene Norris.

James was a member of The Church on the Hill in Galena, Ks. He loved fishing, horseback riding, hunting and spending time with his family. Jim was always a hard worker, known to be a little onery and a very proud papa. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory of Joplin, MO
