Janice Kay Wolsey

Janice Kay Wolsey obituary Janice “Kay” Wolsey, age 74, passed away at Saint Francis Vinita Hospital on September 23, 2024. She was born on December 18th, 1949 in Oswego, KS to Jessie F. and Rose M. (Sykes) Addis. She was a proud resident of Chetopa, KS and was a graduate of Altamont High School in 1967. Following graduation she started working at American State Bank in Oswego, KS, where she was gainfully employed for 21 years. On March 8th, 1968, she married Charles “Wayne” Wolsey, who survives of the home. Following her employment at American State Bank, she worked for Chetopa School district USD 505 for many years before finishing out her career at Chetopa State Bank. Through out her years working in the banking industry she made many life long friends. She dedicated her life to raising her children and grandchildren and nothing made her more happy than spending time with family. She loved sitting out on her porch watching the hummingbirds and tending to her plants and flowers. Survivors include: Her husband of 56 years: Charles “Wayne” Wolsey, one daughter: Julie R. Kepner of Bartlett, KS. One son: Brent D. Wolsey (Allison) of Chetopa, KS. Two brothers: Jessie F. Addis “Junior” and Mike Addis (Brenda) all of Oswego, KS. Six sisters: Patricia Amos (LeRoy) of Chetopa, Lois Rupert (James) of Chetopa, Ann McKinzie of Chetopa, Sherry Goforth of Florida, Pamela Berryhill (Thomas) of Florida, and Teri Nutt of Parsons. Four grandchildren: Brooke Kepner (Chaz), Braydon Kepner, Lane Wolsey, and Jhaggar Wolsey, all of Chetopa. Two great-grandchildren: Niles and Nixon Herd. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was proceeded in death by: Her parents, a brother-in-law: Joe Pease, a sister-in-law: Vallie Addis, and a nephew Gabriel Nutt. Family night will be held at First Christian Church , 916 Maple St., Chetopa, KS at 6:00 PM, Friday, October 11, 2024. Services will be held at First Christian Church, Chetopa, KS at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 12, 2024. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society in her name. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.
