Jason Alex Yost

Jason Alex Yost, 42, of Joplin, Mo. returned to the Lord on July 27, 2024 after a long
battle with cancer.
Jason was born July 21, 1982, in Okeene, Okla., to Jock and Pam Yost. He spent most of
his childhood in Okeene and graduated from Okeene High School in 2001. He then attended the
University of Oklahoma graduating with a B.A. in Mass Communication in 2006. He moved to
Missouri where his family had relocated and took a job as a news photographer for KOAM; its
where he met his wife of 15 years Annie (O’Toole) during an interview. They dated from that
time on and eventually married in 2009. Jason and Annie had a few years together as a couple
before they welcomed their son, Kellen and shortly after daughter, Caroline arrived completing
their family.
Jason worked as the Director of Growth for Windle Wealth. He attend Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Webb City, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid
follower of University of Oklahoma sports, especially football. But his favorite activity was
being a dad. He enjoyed and had many adventures with his family and made them a priority in
his life. Even though he was fighting cancer for several years, he tried to never allow it to
interfere with his time with the ones he loved. He kept a strong and fighting attitude through it
all, and strived to maintain a sense of normalcy for himself and his family.
Jason was and will always be loved by his many friends and large family. Everyone who
knew him knew his kind, caring and outgoing personality. He looked out for the ones he loved
and could be counted on if you were in need. He had a great ability to keep up relationships with
everyone in his life and never knew a stranger.
He is survived by his wife, Annie and two children (Joplin) parents, Jock and Pam Yost
(Miami, Ok.) mother-in-law, Joy O’ Toole (Joplin) brothers, Jonas (Erin) Yost (Neosho) and

Jason will always be my brother. Not from blood but from friendship and the bond we formed in college. He will truly be missed. He will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always remember his love for life, his love for his family and friends, his love for OU, and for always being the most optimistic person. He always saw the best in everything.

Jason was such a kind and positive person. We were all very lucky to know him, and I’m sure he is enjoying the view from heaven. I came across many PASSIONATE Oklahoma Sooner fans, and Jason was one of the biggest. Prayers to his family.
