Kenneth R. Sweet of Galena, Kansas, age 73 passed away at 12:33 am, Friday, March 31st, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO. following a brief and sudden bout of cancer.
Kenny was born October 28, 1949 in Joplin, MO. His parents were Charles Bud and Fern L. (Lammers) Sweet. He had lived in Galena most of his life. He graduated from Galena High School with the class of 1967 and was known to friends as, Tweeter. He worked several positions and most of his career as a Lead Research/Production Technician for Eagle-Picher, from which he retired in 2015.
Kenny enjoyed life and loved all things sports, including baseball, football, basketball, golf, and darts; and could probably give you stats on a variety of players since the early 1960’s.
Survivors included his daughter, Cheron Sweet Myers (husband Jay), Galena, one sister, Phyllis Brown, Joplin, and one grandson Gregory Myers, Galena.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles Sweet, and two sisters, Judy Stapleton and Mary Gilbert.
A private memorial will take place graveside in Baxter. Friends at Franks Lounge in Joplin are planning a celebration of Life on Saturday, April 29.
