Lavenia B. Griffith Rohmiller, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, next to her husband. Born on October 22, 1931, in rural Welch, Oklahoma, Lavenia was the cherished daughter of the late Vernie and Ethel (Moore) Griffith. Her brother, Melvin Griffith, sisters, Marguerite Miller and Ruby Broyles preceded her in death.
Lavenia graduated from Welch High School in 1949 where she met Nicholas Joseph Rohmiller. They were married for 75 years.
In 1949, Lavenia married Nick and together they built a warm and loving home in Welch, later moving to Miami, where they raised their three children: Ronald, Reed and Tracy. Lavenia was a devoted mother, always encouraging her children to pursue their dreams with the same determination she exemplified.
Lavenia was a long-time member of First Christian Church. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and she was known for her faith and compassion. She was a breast cancer survivor.
Lavenia found joy in reading, sewing, baking, working crossword puzzles with her morning coffee, and traveling with Nick to rodeos across the United States. Lavenia was a Cub Scout den leader, Girl Scout leader, always coming up with activities that kept the Scouts interested and learning. She worked for the Oklahoma Tourism Department at the Miami center for many years, which provided numerous entertaining stories.
She is survived by her children, Ron (Mandy), Reed (Annie), and Tracy (Chris); her three grandchildren, J.R. Rohmiller (Mary), Emily Romeu, and Travis Detherage; and her two great grandchildren, Zach and Lucy Rohmiller, as well as numerous nieces and nephews that were her heart and soul.
Lavenia’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family will be remembered by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
