Logan Stewart Beckett

Logan Stewart Beckett, age 60, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, at his home, working on the farm he loved. Logan was born July 23, 1964, in Joplin, Missouri, the son of Mural and Monta Lou Beckett. Logan graduated from Diamond High School in 1982, and married Kelly Ann Roland on October 25, 1985, in Duenweg, Missouri. They lived near Logan’s parents and sister, Piper. At the time, Logan worked for Modine as a braze oven operator. Logan’s first son, Patrick Beckett, was born on March 27, 1987, in Joplin, Missouri. In 1990, Logan and his family moved to the Big Island of Hawaii where Logan’s second son, Jason Beckett, was born on May 26, 1991. Logan worked for the Kona Provision Co. Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency Resort and also cared for some of the wild birds at the resort. The family returned to Joplin, Missouri in November 1991, and lived in the same residence as before. On December 29, 2000, Logan’s daughter, Katelan Beckett, was born in Joplin, Missouri. In 2001, the family bought a 40 acre farm from a neighbor and built a home there. Logan spent the rest of his life working on and maintaining the farm, harvesting wood, raising dogs, cows, chickens, a pig, ducks, and growing an annual garden. And, of course, driving his tractor.

Logan was preceded in death by his mother, Monta Lou Beckett, and his father, Mural Beckett. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Beckett, his children Patrick Beckett (Johanna Abasto-Beckett), Jason Beckett (Rachel Roberds-Beckett), Katelan Beckett (Samuel Hardy), his granddaughter Lucia Beckett, and his siblings Biff Beckett, Whitney Weakley, and Piper Hollars.

Logan was a lifelong musician who sang, played bass, acoustic guitar, keyboards, trumpet, and any other instrument he could get his hands on. Logan was in too many bands, duos, trios, and worship groups to recount, but throughout his life he played for at least seven bands that performed regionally, played bass alongside pianist Susan Cordell at Duenweg Christian Church for Sunday morning services for over a decade, and helped lead Sunday morning worship services at the Joplin Calvary Church of the Nazarene worship group for a decade.
