Matthew Eric Lehman

Matthew Eric Lehman, age 74, unexpectedly passed away on August 10, 2024 at his home in Joplin, Missouri. Matt was born November 15,1949 to Arthur and Angeline Lehman in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was the oldest of five siblings, which included brothers; Jeffrey Lehman, Joseph Lehman, John Lehman, and one sister, Nancy Lehman.
Matt graduated from Tremper High School in 1968, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He went on to join the Airforce and honorably served his country for four years. He married Barbara Jean Koeshall on July 30, 1971. They recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. To this union were born two daughters, Heather Baldwin (Lee) of Clinton, Missouri, and Heidi Todd (Bryan) of Carthage, Missouri.
Matt loved his grandchildren with all of his heart and had a special bond with each one. His grandchildren are Nathan Baldwin, Daniel Baldwin (Deya), Zach Baldwin (Cassie Farris), Emma Donels (Cael), and Andrew Baldwin.
Matt enjoyed his life to the fullest. His greatest love was that of his God, his wife and his family. His happiest times were spent in the presence of his loved ones. In his younger years, Matt was an avid photographer. He had a keen eye for capturing that perfect shot. One of his proudest moments behind the lens was photographing astronaut, Alan Shepard, during his military days as an Air Force photographer. His eye for detail and passion for photography brought countless memories to life, preserving them for future generations.
Matt also had a deep love for all things sports, particularly for his lifelong team, the Green Bay Packers. His enthusiasm for the game led him to open a sports card shop named Play Ball at 12th and Virginia in Joplin, Missouri during the 1990’s. He found immense joy in connecting with others who shared his passion. Whether talking sports or reminiscing about memorable games, Matt’s love for the game was infectious and brought joy to many.
Above all, Matt was a man of deep faith, love and commitment. His life was a testament to the importance of family, community, and pursing one’s passions. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was the epitome of unconditional love and tenderheartedness. His attributes are countless. God blessed us greatly; he was truly the best husband, dad, father-in-law, and papa anyone could have. He was our foundation. His legacy will live on in the memories he captured, the moments he shared and the lives he touched.
Matt is survived by his wife, two daughters, eight grandchildren, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Arthur Lehman and Angeline “Angie” Lehman, his brother, Jeffrey Lehman and his sister, Nancy Elizabeth Lehman.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park of Joplin, MO.
