Darrell Leon Cole passed away peacefully on February 5th, 2024, at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness, surrounded by his loved ones in his home in Carthage, Missouri.
Darrell was born in Carthage to Carl and Hester Cole. After high school and joining the Army, he served in Korea before becoming an auctioneer. He found joy in his daily coffee visits at the Pancake Hut in Carthage, sharing stories with friends. Darrell was a lover of life and enjoyed many different hobbies, picking his guitar, metal detecting, shooting pool at the VFW, and endlessly teasing his nephews and nieces.
On July 25th, 1986, Darrell married the love of his life Kaylene. Together, they enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and searching for the best deals at the flea markets. Darrell is survived by his wife Kaylene Cole, daughter Tosha Mae, three grandchildren – Ashton, Marley, and Taylor – and a great-grandchild, Lincon (Oregon) 2 sisters Connie Hoggle (Mike) and Brenda Lee (Matt) both of Carthage and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Hester Cole, as well as his two brothers, Larry and Rick Cole.
The Cole family would like to thank Good Shepherd hospice for their outstanding compassion and care they gave to Darrell during his final days with us. No services are planned at this time, but this loss will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
