Jacob Williams

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the unexpected death of Jacob Williams on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. He had a full life ahead of him, which was tragically cut short at the young age of 25. While our family grieves the loss of Jacob, authorities continue to investigate the details of his death in hopes to provide answers and some measure of closure in the coming months.

As a young boy Jacob could be best described as an ornery “momma’s boy” with a big smile and was always into something. Unfortunately, the unexpected death of his mother, Bethany (Bycroft) Williams, in 2012 forced him to grow up in a hurry. It also forged a special, unbreakable bond with four special men in his family – his brothers Triston Williams, Clifton-Paul Bycroft, Uncle James (Bycroft), and his Grandpa, Dick Bycroft (preceded him in death in 2020), as well as his sister, Stephanie Gowing.

Jacob chose to channel his emotion and energy into three kiddos, who would call him Daddy. In addition to stepping up to become the father to Carter and Journey and love them as his own, he was Daddy to Jexxer Bycroft, who is definitely his mini-me. Loving these three kiddos would become his greatest accomplishment in life, but he also proudly wore the titles of Son, Grandson, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Cousin, and Friend.

Jacob was employed by Kevin Johnson at Metal-Tech, in Joplin, where he worked as a machinist. He was a dependable, hard worker, who was committed to be a reliable provider for his family. He loved his family. Jacob was treasured by his friends and family and will be deeply missed.

There will be no visitation. The Bycroft family will be holding a private service for friends and family in early November. For details on the date and time, please reach out to Triston Williams or James Bycroft. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the “Jacob Williams Memorial Account” (at Great Southern Bank), which will be used for the benefit of Jacob’s children.
