Nettie Kathryn (Mead) Coalson age 98, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2024.
She was born May 1, 1926, in Carthage, Mo. to Virgil R. Hodges and Sarah (Long) Hodges. She was the 8th of 9 children. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Fred Hodges, John Hodges, Bill Hodges and Paul Hodges; sisters, Nellie Pearl Dooley, Mary Prychrodniecz, Grace Pequignot and Elsie (Anderson) Camerer.
Kathryn married Bon R. Mead in October 1946 and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1980. She and Paul W. Coalson were married in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 2012.
She worked for the Joplin R-8 School District and Freeman Health System, bringing her wonderfully fun spirit to both.
She is survived by her children, son David Mead and wife Sandy, of Joplin, Mo.; and daughter Janice Mead Case also of Joplin, Mo.; her grandchildren, Angie Maxwell, Brent Vantrease, Erik Albright and Carrie Gess; and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7th at the Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin, Mo. Loving written by Nettie’s Family
