Andrea Rickard

Andrea Kay Rickard at age 57, took her last breath surrounded by loved ones on March 13, 2024, after a fiercely fought battle with ALS she gained her freedom. Andrea leaves behind her partner in life of twenty-one years Suzanne Simek. Her surviving family members: daughter April Byars married to Guy Byars, three grandsons Korben, Brock and Finn Byars. Her mother Barbara Rickard, and siblings Glenn W. Rickard Jr.,
Thomas A. Rickard and Jeannie Rickard Binkley married to Richard Binkley. She was predeceased by her father Glenn Rickard. Andrea loved to garden, bake, and create things with her hands. Her homemade apple pie was requested and adored at all family gatherings. She could never sit still for very long; she loved to travel and spend time with her grandsons. She could always be found outside tending to her yard and garden. She found peace in nature. She fell in love with soccer at first because of Suzanne’s love for the game and then became an avid United States Women’s National team fan. In 2019, Andrea was able to attend the Women’s World Cup in France where she was in heaven from the abundance of wonderful food. After her visit to France, she worked tirelessly to perfect chocolate croissants and
sourdough bread. It was a labor of love she would say. She would share with her friends and family.

Andrea was exceptionally independent, if there was something that needed to be fixed or could be made better. She would not hesitate to learn a new skill and then put it into action whether it was working on her car or helping someone in need. She had an advocate’s nature and put it into action the best ways she knew how. Andrea’s loved ones say they will remember her laughter, smile and giving heart. “Life is groovy and always love,” were her mantras. She will be missed.

Celebration of Life will be held at Shoal Kirk, 9273 Otter Dr., Neosho, MO 64850, at 3
p.m. on April 6 th , 2024. This will be an outside event with a covered pavilion. The family
is asking for all donations to be made to the ALS Association in the name of Andrea
Rickard.
