Joplin, MO – Ernest Eugene McDowell, age 81, former owner of McDee’s Book Store, passed away on January 12, 2024. Ernest was born on April 5, 1942 in Joplin, to Eugene E. McDowell and Lillian McDowell (Gaddy). They preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Malena McDowell, and one grandson, Robert Friend, both of Joplin. Services are planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Ozark Memorial Park Crematory in Joplin.
